Maintenance Lead Technician

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Repairs (70%)

  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of maintenance employees.
  • Direct the maintenance activities and assign duties for equipment repair, preventative maintenance and new equipment implementation.
  • Work closely with distribution supervisors, leads, and distribution operators to diagnose and resolve issues to establish priorities and assign resources accordingly with the main goal of reducing machine downtime, supporting distribution, reducing set-up time and cost.
  • Coach and counsel Maintenance Mechanics to obtain daily goals.
  • Conduct Safety Meetings.
  • Coordinate with contractors on equipment repairs.
  • Perform any electrical/plumbing/carpentry work as required.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment (exhaust fans, dock doors, ladders, pallet racking, case pick racking, conveyors, etc) as assigned.
  • Correct and report to supervisor equipment conditions, which degrade productivity.
  • Ability to prioritize maintenance actions when necessary.
  • Actively participate on teams to design, build and install in projects to improve safety, housekeeping, quality and productivity.
  • Install, maintain and repair various plant equipment and related devices.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment (exhaust fans, pick carts, dock doors, manual pallet jacks, ladders, safety harnesses, pallet racking, case pick racking, conveyors, etc.) as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and conveyors to diagnose issues and eliminate downtime.
  • Work closely with distribution leads, supervisors, maintenance mechanics, and distribution operators to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of distribution equipment during distribution and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of distribution equipment during machine service.
  • Prepare and sets up machinery for scheduled distribution runs.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and distribution machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Observe and monitor all safety rules. Stop/correct all unsafe conditions and report them to supervisor.
  • Ensure that all mechanical and electrical elements of the machines, electrical equipment, conveying equipment is maintained in good working order and identifies and prevents any safety risks to employees that may be operating or working near equipment.
  • Develop, schedule and support preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned.

Other (30%)

  • Maintain logs and records or work performed (daily pass-down), materials and equipment used.
  • Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
  • Perform housekeeping as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by EHS (Environment Health & Safety) & Facilities M
  • Research, order & receive repair parts as needed to support operations.
  • Other duties as assigned/ required by supervisor.

Education and Experience Profile

Education and Experience Profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: Two or more year's facilities maintenance in a distribution center.

Required Skills

  • Broad knowledge of methods and procedures in the various distribution center functions.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and effectively communicate pertinent information and standard operating procedures.
  • Must be able to function in a quick moving, highly interactive team environment.
  • Must have the ability to multi task as well as be detail oriented.
  • Must possess natural curiosity and ability to recognize missing elements.
  • Demonstrate organizational and leadership skills.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work collaboratively with other people and departments.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills at all levels of the business.
  • Some PLC experience preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrate ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks (including Reach Truck, Order Picker, Dock Stocker, Single and Double Walkie Rider, and Articulating Boom Lift).
  • Must be willing and able to safely work elevated using man-up lifts.
  • Must be safety oriented and have a record of operating safely.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
